Montregard is a French municipality with 596 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Boutières (until 2015: canton of Montfaucon-en-Velay ). The inhabitants are called morganais .

Montregard is located in the Velay , a landscape in the French Massif Central , and in the Forez about 30 kilometers south of Saint-Étienne . Montregard is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montfaucon-en-Velay in the north and north-west, Dunières in the north, Saint-Julien-Mohelsabate in the north-east, Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid in the east and south-east, and Saint-André-en-Vivarais in the south South-east, Le Mas-de-Tence in the south, Tence in the south and south-west, Lapte in the west and Raucoules in the north-west.

history

In 1925 the parish was formed from parts of the commune of Saint-Didier-en-Velay.
