The Arrondissement Yssingeaux is an administrative district in the Haute-Loire department in the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes . The main town ( sub-prefecture ) is Yssingeaux .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Haute-Loire department, a District d'Yssingeaux was also founded, which essentially coincided with today's arrondissement. With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district was transferred to the new arrondissement Yssingeaux.
From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the temporarily dissolved arrondissement belonged to the arrondissement of Le Puy-en-Velay .

The arrondissement borders in the north on the arrondissements Montbrison and Saint-Étienne in the Loire department , in the southeast on the arrondissement Tournon-sur-Rhône in the department Ardèche and in the south and west on the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay .

The municipality of Monistrol-sur-Loire is the largest in the arrondissement with 8,718 inhabitants, followed by the capital Yssingeaux (7,202 inhabitants) and Sainte-Sigolène (5,959 inhabitants, all as of January 1, 2017).
