The Arrondissement Saint-Flour is an administrative district in the Cantal department in the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes . The main town ( sub-prefecture ) is Saint-Flour .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Cantal department, a District de Saint-Flour was also founded, although it was smaller than the current arrondissement. With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district became the arrondissement Saint-Flour.

On September 10, 1926, the dissolved Arrondissement Murat was added to the Arrondissement Saint-Flour.

The arrondissement borders in the north with the arrondissement Issoire in the department Puy-de-Dôme , in the east with the arrondissement Brioude in the department Haute-Loire , in the southeast with the arrondissement Mende in the department Lozère ( Occitania ), in the southwest with the arrondissement Rodez in the department Aveyron ( Occitania ) and to the west to the arrondissements of Aurillac and Mauriac .
