geography
The municipality of Deux-Verges is located in the northeast of the Aubrac landscape , which is part of the Massif Central , about 35 kilometers south of Saint-Flour and 75 kilometers northeast of Rodez . The 11.2 km² area of the municipality is - unlike the treeless plateaus of central Aubrac - about half covered with forest. The Remontalou mountain stream rises in Deux-Verges and drains north to the Truyère . The gently undulating high plateau reaches 1286 meters above sea level at the summit of the Puy de la Tuile . The community consists of numerous individual farms and some hamlets, including the eponymous Deux-Verges with barely a dozen buildings, including a church and town hall (at 1030 meters above sea level). Other hamlets are La Borie Basse (990 m), Le Graulès (1050 m), Boussols (1065 m) and Les Coursières (1125 m). Deux-Verges is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chaudes-Aigues in the north-west and north, Anterrieux in the north-east, Saint-Rémy-de-Chaudes-Aigues in the south-east and south, and Jabrun in the south-west.
