Hellerhausen is part of the Wüsten district of the Lippe town of Bad Salzuflen in northeast North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The Vier-Höfe-Siedlung Hellerhausen is about 1.2 kilometers northwest of the desert town center on a plateau ( 135.8  m above sea level ), roughly in the middle between the Wüstenb (i) eke in the south and the Glimke in the northwest.

history

Cupid of Hellerhausen

During excavations in the 1930s, ceramics and processed shotguns were discovered in the area of Krutheide . From the Roman Empire are on the chicken Brink and in the Krutheide two eyes brooches , a bronze APPLIC  - the Cupid of Heller Hausen , two tokens and medals (one denarius of Julius Caesar .., Marked 49/48 BC, and a sestertius of Nero , struck 63/68 AD in the Rome mint ).

In 1011, on June 13th, the Meierhof Hedereshusen was first mentioned in a donation from Abbess Godesdiu - the earliest mention of today's desert area. Menfrith de Heithershusen is later named as the first owner .

Since 1325 the abbot Liutgard directed the Herford abbey. In their fiefdom register, two main farms are already mentioned in Hellerhausen: with the Tiesmeier farm , the “de Slon” family was enfeoffed , the Meierjohann farm was given to the “Lords of Exterde” as a fief. For Tiesmeier yard included a mill and two Koetter houses from which later the courts saving Brodt ( Lower Meier ) and Deppe ( Sievert emerged).

The Meierjohann-Hof came from the Lords of Exterde to the de Grest family in Bielefeld and was sold to the city of Salzuflen in 1487 with the Amthof Seligenwörden .

On July 31, 1663, Hellerhausen was sold for 1250  thalers from the city of Salzuflen to Drosten Simon Moritz von Donop in Wöbbel .

In the 19th century the farms were more and more freed from their landlord burdens, and in 1850 the long lease was finally removed.

Surname

After Hedereshusen was first mentioned (1011), the following names are historically documented for today's Hellerhausen : Heitherhusen and Hethusen (both after 1241), Hederhusen (1291), Hetherehusun and Heithershusen (both at the end of the 12th century ), Hechusen (1333) , Hedernhusen (1393), Hederhuzen (1398), Hederhusen (1354) and Hedderhusen (1412; 1494), Helderhusen (1541), Hedderhausen (1618, in the Landschatzregister), Hederhaussen (1707) and Hedderhausen (1731). This is how the spot is called in the desert church registers until the middle of the 19th century.

Location of the excavations

West of the district of Hellerhausen, the forests were cleared in the parcel Das Lange Holz between 1920 and 1922 and several urns were found when the earth was filled , but it was not until late summer 1935 that a scientific excavation was carried out under the direction of Leo Nebelsiek at this point: at a depth of about A stone ring from the Neolithic Age, 8.5 meters in diameter and formed from many granites, came to light here. A second, sickle-shaped stone ring followed. All stones have a diameter of up to 45 centimeters and are very carefully laid. About 40 centimeters below, there were places of rotten wood, small hollows, pieces of charcoal and, at the presumed site of the actual burial, a five centimeter long flint blade . During the excavation, several shards of vessels were found that could be related to a Cheruscan settlement 100 meters away and a campfire grave from the first century AD discovered on Mühlenweg .
