Wöbbel is a district of the town of Schieder-Schwalenberg in the district of Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia and borders the town of Steinheim in the district of Höxter .

history

Wöbbel was first mentioned in writing between 826 and 876 as Wegballidi .

Until it was incorporated on January 1, 1970, Wöbbel was an independent municipality in the Detmold district . This was dissolved on January 1, 1973 and merged with the Lemgo district to form the Lippe district.

The Evangelical Church Wöbbel belongs to the Blomberg class of the Lippische Landeskirche .

Buildings

The Evangelical Church was first mentioned in 1231 and is consecrated to John the Baptist . The lower part of the tower dates from the 12th century. In the Romanesque period the arched windows with columns and loopholes were placed on this base. The late Gothic stepped gable followed in the 16th century . The old main nave had become dilapidated in the 17th century, so it was demolished and rebuilt by 1699. The furnishings of the church, such as the pulpit and organ loft, date from this period, as well as an epitaph from the domain administrator in Neuburg.

The Wöbbel Castle was built in the late 17th century and is now privately owned.
