The Kneipp health resort Schieder is a district and the seat of the city administration of Schieder-Schwalenberg in the district of Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia .

To the west of Schieder, the Niese flows into the Emmer , which is dammed to the northeast from the village to the Schiedersee .

history

Schieder was first mentioned in a document in 822.

The Alt-Schieder fortification is located on the western slope of the Kahlenberg .

Schieder Castle was built at the beginning of the 18th century .

In 1872 Schieder was connected to the Hanover – Altenbeken railway line .

On January 1, 1970, the former municipality of Schieder became the new town of Schieder through the law on the reorganization of the Detmold district of December 2, 1969 with the municipalities of Brakelsiek , Lothe , Ruensiek , Siekholz and Wöbbel as well as the town of Schwalenberg , incorporating parts of the town of Blomberg -Schwalenberg merged.

Schieder station is on the Hanover – Altenbeken railway line . It is served every hour by the S-Bahn line S 5 Paderborn - Altenbeken - Steinheim - Schieder - Hameln - Hannover Hbf - Hannover Airport .

The route to Blomberg branched off here until 1987 ; passenger traffic ended in 1951.

Public facilities

In Schieder there was a secondary school (Schlossparkschule), which was closed in 2015, and a primary school. The place also has a library and an outdoor swimming pool.

There is also an Evangelical Reformed church in Schieder, the Catholic St. Laurentius Church and, since the beginning of the 90s, a Free Evangelical Mennonite Brothers congregation.
