Brakelsiek is a district of Schieder-Schwalenberg in the district of Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The village is located in the Lipper Bergland south of the main town. State road 886 runs through the village. The eastern part of the village is part of the Schwalenberg Forest nature reserve .
history
The shell stones on Bennerberg come from prehistoric times .
Brakelsiek was first mentioned in 1510. At that time the village was called "tom Brakersike" or "tom Brackersyke". In 1535 the village was referred to as "Brackersieck". The name probably derives from from between Lugde and Elbrinxen located Wüstung Brake and the term Siek .
On January 1, 1970, the Detmold Act and other villages made the town part of Schieder-Schwalenberg.
