The Schwalenberger Wald nature reserve is located in the Lippe district and has a total area of around 2928.1 hectares. The area is managed with the number LIP-063 and extends over parts of the towns of Schieder-Schwalenberg and Lügde .
It was especially for large-scale protection of wet Hochstaudenfluren , Luzulo - Buchenwald , Woodruff -Buchenwald and alder - ash - softwood floodplain forest expelled.
The area is particularly important for the following animal species:
- Crested newt
- Middle woodpecker
- Red kite
- Black stork
- Black woodpecker
- Gray woodpecker
- Bullhead
- Stag beetle
- Great Moss Maiden
The protection status of the two former nature reserves Mörth and Salkenbruch was lifted when the nature reserve Schwalenberger Wald was created and both areas were fully integrated.
