|
Biemsen-Ahmsen is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district .
history
The 15 cm hand ax from Bad Salzuflen from the Middle Paleolithic , recovered from the excavation of an excavation pit , dated to an age of around 350,000 to 300,000 years, is the oldest evidence of the presence of early man.
A 400 m long, 1–2 m high and 6–10 m wide section of a Landwehr wall on the Speckenbach, 350 m west of Lockhauserbaum, and a body burial discovered during the construction of the Reichsautobahn in 1938, excavated by Friedrich Langewiesche , bear witness to a significantly later settlement .
The oldest written mention of Biemsen as Bionhus (un) and Ahmsen as Amaleshusun is dated between 826 and 876, but other settlements are also possible for the place mentioned in the document. A "Hobert in Bionhus (un)" is mentioned in the deed of donation for the Corvey monastery . The two most recent mentions of the place as "Bimessen" and "Bimesen" date back to the 13th century. It was mentioned as "Bymesen" from the period between 1324 and 1360.
Ahmsen is named in the form of "Amaleshusun" in the same document from the 9th century as Biemsen. The place appears in an identical name form at the end of the 12th century, but is also documented as "curia Emelessen" (dated between 1185 and 1205). From the end of the 13th century, the name appears more frequently in various variants.
Numerous house inscriptions go back to around 1700.
Until it was incorporated into Bad Salzuflen on January 1, 1969, Biemsen-Ahmsen was an independent municipality in the Lemgo district .
