House | Bad Salzuflen Am Markt 23 Map |
According to the latest dendrochronological investigations, the two-storey gabled house with a massive core is the oldest surviving residential building in Bad Salzuflen. A parchment over a bond dates the construction to 1504. With the well-preserved rear building, the building is an important testimony to the urban living culture in the early 16th century. The oldest part of the house is probably the rear building with its Gothic cellar vault and the stone hall. The hall was once adorned by a chimney with a Gothic rim. The stone staircase to the hall is framed by a baroque oak railing, while the fittings on the old wooden doors are probably from the late Renaissance . The stone gable to the market was demolished around 1800 at the instigation of the pastor and replaced by a simple half-timbered gable with a crooked hip. Originally it was painted stone-colored. Today the simple facade typical of the 1800s is part of the listed building ensemble on the market and has a defining function for the cityscape. Built by Mayor Alfermann, many families of mayors, judges and councilors have subsequently resided in the house. Since the fire in the town church in 1762, it had been the parish parsonage for more than 100 years until it returned to private hands in 1869. The first floor of the house was then converted into a shop. Today's shop window front dates from the 1950s, with all the windows on the facade being renewed in the 20th century. | around 1510 | Dec 21, 1988 | 76

House Bender | Bad Salzuflen Parkstraße 16 map |
Corner building in an exposed location (corner of Bleichstrasse / Parkstrasse). The builder was the Salzufler merchant Robert Dormagen, who had the building built in 1911/12 as a boarding house according to plans by the architect Rudolf Günther . It is one of the most important buildings of spa architecture from the early 20th century in Westphalia that has been preserved to this day. In addition, its location makes it important for urban development. The front facing Bleichstrasse, which is characterized by the staircase porch, is considered the front. In 1922 the building was acquired by the Bender (goldsmith and jeweler) and Klasberg (merchant) company. A gemstone salon was set up on the first floor. In 1927, after some tug-of-war with the responsible authorities, under the direction of the architect, the ground floor was converted into a jewelery exhibition and sales salon. Further renovations took place in 1956 with the establishment of a pastry shop with a café and the installation of a terrace. | 1911/12 | Dec 17, 1991 | 147
