The Jewish cemetery in Schötmar

The Schötmar Jewish Cemetery is located on Oerlinghauser Strasse in Schötmar , a district of the city of Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The Jewish cemetery is registered with the number 209 as an architectural monument in the list of monuments of the city of Bad Salzuflen .

The approximately 1,600 m² Jewish cemetery to the south of the Werre cemetery was occupied from 1871 to 1955. There are 63 grave sites with well-preserved tombstones ( mazewot ) in the cemetery . Before the Jews of Schötmar could create their own burial ground, they buried their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Salzuflen, first mentioned in 1607 .
