Holzhausen is the southernmost district of the city Bad Salzuflen in Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany . The district consists of Holzhausen and Sylbach.

Holzhausen is located to the south, about seven kilometers outside of Salzufler city center. It is bordered to the west by the district Wülfer-Bexten , on the north by the districts Ehrsen-Breden and Schötmar , on the east by the district Grastrup-Hölsen , on the south by the city location and in the southwest on the community Leopoldshöhe . The border to Leopoldshöhe is formed by the natural river Werre . The Holzhauser Bruch nature reserve is located in the west of the district, including the east bank .

history

Flint stones and chisels found during inspections are evidence of settlement as early as the Mesolithic in the area of ​​today's Bad Salzufler district of Holzhausen. The district of Sylbach was only founded in the 20th century on the area of ​​the former Sylbach manor.

Population development

On January 1, 1969, Holzhausen became part of the new town of Bad Salzuflen. There were 2865 inhabitants = 343 inhabitants per square kilometer (for comparison Bad Salzuflen total: 479 inhabitants / km²).

Holzhausen was first mentioned in writing in 1306 as Holthosen . Sylbach was first mentioned in writing in 1191 as Sulbike . Other documented names include two dialect forms ( Sylbke and Sülbke ) Sulbeke (after 1241; 1360), Ouersulbeke (1386, in the Peace Money Register), Sulbike and Sulbecke (both 1494), Sülbecke (1544), Sulbeck (1562, in the Landschatzregister), Sülbach (1566; 1617; 1726), Sülbeck (1627) and Silbach (1790).

The place Holzhausen is connected to the national road network via the state road  967 (to Retzen and Leopoldshöhe or Oerlinghausen ) as well as the federal road 239 to Detmold or to Ostwestfalenstrasse and further to the federal highway 2 .

Rail and bus transport

The Sylbach stop is on the Herford – Altenbeken railway line ( KBS 405 ). It is served every hour by the RB  72 "Ostwestfalen-Bahn" Herford - Lage - Detmold - Altenbeken - Paderborn . Local rail passenger transport is carried out by the Eurobahn . Holzhausen is connected to the city center by the Bad Salzuflen city bus line 942.
