The Ostwestfalenstraße runs as a well-developed expressway from Altenhagener Straße in Bielefeld-Altenhagen to the "Ostwestfalen-Lippe" junction of the A 2 and then via Lemgo , Blomberg , Steinheim and Brakel to Warburg to the A 44 .

On the sections from Bielefeld-Altenhagen to Lemgo and from the end of the B 66n to Blomberg, Ostwestfalenstraße is also known as L 712n. Between Bad Salzuflen and Lemgo, in Steinheim and near Nieheim, it is partially developed in the 2 + 1 system (alternating two lanes in one direction and one lane in the other direction).

On the further section from Blomberg to Warburg it is then also called the B 252 .

There are ring roads for most of the towns .

Expansion plans

From Altenhagener Straße in Bielefeld-Altenhagen, Ostwestfalenstraße is to be extended in the near future to the B 61 in the Bielefeld district of Brake , thus creating a better connection from the motorway to the north of Bielefeld as a bypass for the Milse district .
