Allanche ( Occitan : Alancho ) is a French municipality with 790 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Flour .
geography
Allanche is located around 25 kilometers north-northwest of the small town of Saint-Flour within the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park . The main bodies of water are the Allanche river and Lac du Pêcher lake . The most important traffic connection is the national route 122 , which passes a few kilometers away . The municipality has its own train station, but the line has been closed since 1990. Allanche is a stop on bus route 17 Neussargues - Bort-Les-Orgues.
In addition to the village of Allanche, the settlements Le Baladour, Maillargues, Coudour, Lapeyrot, Romaniargues, Chastre, Les Clauzels, Chavanon, Béteil, Feydit, Roche, Le Bac, Lorillou Fourche, Fromageade, Donnenuit, Combalut, Gouay, Les Planes, Rouchy, Lampres and Chameille to the widely ramified community.
Allanche is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pradiers and Vèze in the north, Molèdes in the northeast, Peyrusse in the southeast, Sainte-Anastasie in the south, Chalinargues in the southwest, Vernols in the west and Landeyrat in the northwest.
history
The first human sign is the Maillargues dolmen. Historically, the commune belongs to the Cézallier region within the Auvergne. Allanche belonged to the Murat district from 1793 to 1801 and was the capital of the canton of Allanche from 1793 to 2015 . In 1964 the municipality of Chanet (1962: 53 inhabitants) was incorporated.
