La Chapelle-d'Alagnon ( Occitan : La Chapela d'Alanhon) is a French municipality with 249 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Flour .
geography
La Chapelle-d'Alagnon is located around 17 kilometers northwest of the small town of Saint-Flour in the area of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park . It belongs to the Monts du Cantal mountains . Most of the houses are located in the Vallée de l'Alagnon (Alagnon Valley). The most important bodies of water are the Alagnon , the Ander , the Foufouilloux brook and several ponds in the moor and in the Alagnon valley. The main route through the municipality is the national route 122 . The nearest train station is in Murat.
In addition to the village of La Chapelle-d'Alagnon, there are the settlements of Gaspard, Laborie, Le Jarrousset, Les Valettes, Maymargues, Nozerolles, Saint-Loup and Silhols.
La Chapelle-d'Alagnon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Virargues in the north, Celles in the east, Ussel in the southeast, Laveissenet in the south and Murat in the west.
