Marchastel ( Occitan Marchastel ) is a French municipality with 154 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the canton of Riom-ès-Montagnes (until 2015 Condat ) and the arrondissement of Saint-Flour . The inhabitants are called Marchastellous .

Marchastel is about 44 kilometers north-northeast of Aurillac . Neighboring municipalities are Saint-Amandin in the north, Lugarde in the east, Saint-Saturnin in the southeast, Cheylade in the south, Apchon in the southwest and Riom-ès-Montagnes in the west.
