Apchon ( Occitan also apchon ) is a French municipality with 186 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .

geography

Apchon is more than forty kilometers northeast of Aurillac in the north of the Cantal department. The mountain village lies on the slope of Mount Puy Mary and is part of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park . The municipality crosses the Rhue de Cheylade (also Petite Rhue). Neighboring communities are Marchastel in the north-east, Saint-Hippolyte in the south-east and south, Collandres in the south-west and west and Riom-ès-Montagnes in the north-west.
