Le Monteil ( Occitan identical) is a commune with 285 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mauriac and the canton of Ydes (until 2015: canton of Saignes ). The inhabitants are called Montellois .
geography
Le Monteil is located in the northwestern foothills of the Monts-du-Cantal massif, about 41 kilometers north of Aurillac . Le Monteil is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saignes in the north and north-west, Vebret in the north, La Monselie in the north-east, Menet in the east, Trizac in the south and south-east, Auzers in the south and south-west and Sauvat in the west.
