Sauvat ( Occitan identical) is a French municipality with 214 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mauriac and the canton of Ydes (until 2015: canton of Saignes ).

geography

Sauvat is located in the northwestern foothills of the Monts du Cantal massif, about 43 kilometers north of Aurillac . Sauvat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ydes in the north, Saignes in the northeast, Le Monteil in the east, Auzers in the south, Méallet in the southwest and Bassignac in the west.
