Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal is a French commune with 1,095 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mauriac and the canton of Ydes (until 2015: canton of Saignes ).
geography
Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal is located in the northwestern foothills of the Monts du Cantal massif, about 59 kilometers southwest of Clermont-Ferrand . The Rhue limits the community in the south. Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Lanobre in the north and northwest, Cros in the north and northeast, Saint-Donat in the northeast, Saint-Genès-Champespe and Trémouille in the east, Saint-Étienne-de-Chomeil and Antignac in the South, Vebret in the south and southwest and Bort-les-Orgues in the west.
