The French community Bort-les-Orgues is located in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the department of Corrèze in the Arrondissement Ussel and is equipped with 2,677 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) main town in the canton Haute-Dordogne .
geography
The municipality is located 28 km southeast of Ussel , 83 km northeast of Tulle , 77 km north of Aurillac and 79 km southwest of Clermont-Ferrand . To the north of the municipality, which stretches in the Dordogne valley, and on the D 922, into which the D 979 joins in the local area, and on the Bourges - Miécaze railway line , the Bort-les-Orgues reservoir has been spreading as part of the Large dam project "Aménagement hydroélectrique de la Dordogne" of Electricité de France (EDF). The municipal area covers 15.07 square kilometers at 403 to 788 meters above sea level .

Attractions
- Colline de Orgues : the basalt "organs" on the north side of the valley about 350 meters above the village, a rock formation about two kilometers long with 80 to 100 meter high volcanic needles , made accessible to tourists by a hiking trail on the edge of the slope.
- Barrage de Bort-les-Orgues : 124 m high, arched dam , built from concrete in1942-52, with a 390 m long upper edge of the dam and an upstream flood relief system in the form of a ski jump, dams the Dordogne to an 18 km long reservoir with a capacity of 477 Million cubic meters.
- Church: Romanesque and Gothic , 12th to 15th centuries, with an important organ, consecrated to Saints Remède and Germain
- Anciennes Halles : from the 15th century
- Musée de la Tannerie et du cuir : tannery and leather museum
- Castle Val : built in 1440, is located near Bort-les-Orgues, on the banks of the reservoir
