Moustier-Ventadour is a French municipality with 451 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves Moustiérois (es).
geography
The community is located in the Massif Central on the right bank of the Soudeillette , a tributary of the Luzège , parts of the region are declared local nature reserves ( ZNIEFF ).
Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 35 kilometers southwest, Égletons about 5 kilometers northwest and Ussel about 30 kilometers northeast.
Neighboring communities of Moustier-Ventadour are Darnets in the north, Lamazière-Basse in the east, Saint-Hilaire-Foissac in the south, Chapelle-Spinasse in the south-west, Rosiers-d'Égletons in the west and Égletons in the north-west.

history
Moustier-Ventadour is now the municipality in which the Château de Ventadour is located. Built by the year 1350, in the period from the late 11th century as the basic rule by Philip of Valois to a county was charged. In the 16th century it became a duchy . In the 17th century the castle came into the possession of the de Rohan family .
The origin of the place Moustier-Ventadour was a Clunician monastery in the 12th century .

Attractions
- The Château de Ventadour , a fortress that overlooks the Luzège gorges and was built by Ebles de Comborn in the 11th century . During the Hundred Years War the fortress was captured by the English and partially destroyed. After it was completely abandoned in the 18th century, it fell into ruin. Restoration work started in 1969 and is still ongoing today. The Château de Ventadour has been classified as a Monument historique since 1840 .
