Darnets is a French municipality with 361 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves Darnetziens (iennes).

geography

The community is located in the Massif Central on the edge of the Plateau de Millevaches and thus also in the Regional Nature Park Millevaches en Limousin not far from the pond Étang du Lieuteret.

Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 35 kilometers southwest, Égletons about 7 kilometers southwest and Ussel about 25 kilometers northeast.

Neighboring municipalities of Darnets are Maussac in the north, Combressol in the northeast, Palisse in the east, Lamazière-Basse in the southeast, Moustier-Ventadour in the south, Égletons in the west and Soudeilles in the northwest.

Attractions

• The church Saint-Martin-Saint-Maurice von Darnets is a sacred building originally from the 12th century, but rebuilt in the 15th century, in it there are Romanesque and Gothic elements. The church has been classified as a Monument historique since 1923 .
• The Château de Fontmartin, a 16th century castle, has been classified as a Monument historique since 1986.
• The Château du Lieuteret, a 17th century castle, has been classified as a Monument historique since 1969.
