Péret Bel-air

Péret-Bel-Air is a French municipality with 91 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves Pérétois (es).

geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central on the edge of the Plateau de Millevaches and therefore also in the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Nature Park , about four kilometers north of the A89 autoroute . The town center is on a hill over 800 meters high, making it one of the highest in the Limousin.

Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 35 kilometers southwest, Égletons about 10 kilometers south and Ussel about 25 kilometers northeast.

Neighboring municipalities of Péret-Bel-Air are Davignac in the northeast, Soudeilles in the southeast, Égletons in the south, Saint-Yrieix-le-Déjalat in the west and Bonnefond in the northwest.

The bog of Bonnefond / Péret-Bel-Air in the northern part of the municipality is interesting . It has been classified as a Natura 2000 protected area since 1998 . There you can find plants that have become rare in France, such as rosemary heather and sundew .

history

The origins of the community go back to the Middle Ages . The name Péret-Bel-air goes back to the Latin pyrus . In Occitan it later became péreto . Péret was the name of the place until the beginning of the 20th century, in 1919 the place was renamed Péret-Bel-Air .
