Champagnac-la-Noaille ( Champanhac la Noalha in Occitan ) is a French municipality with 233 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves Champagnacois (es).
geography
The municipality is located in the Massif Central on the right bank of the Doustre and is surrounded by extensive forests. Tulle , the prefecture of the department is about 25 kilometers southwest and Égletons about 14 kilometers north and Ussel about 40 kilometers northeast.
Neighboring municipalities of Champagnac-la-Noaille are Montaignac-Saint-Hippolyte in the north, Le Jardin in the east, Lafage-sur-Sombre in the southeast, Marcillac-la-Croisille in the south, Saint-Pardoux-la-Croisille in the southwest, Clergoux in the west and Eyrein in the northwest.
history
Archaeological finds have proven a settlement as early as the Gallic - Roman times. The name Champagnac comes from Campanius-acum , the Campanius estate, while la Noaille refers to the name of the feudal lords in this area.
