Bellechassagne ( Belachassanha in Occitan ) is a French municipality with 89 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves Bellechassagnois (es).
geography
The municipality is located in the Massif Central on the Plateau de Millevaches and therefore also in the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Nature Park .
Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 75 kilometers southwest, Égletons about 35 kilometers southwest and Ussel about 15 kilometers southeast.
Neighboring municipalities of Bellechassagne are Saint-Rémy in the northeast and east, Saint-Germain-Lavolps in the south and Sornac in the southwest, west and northwest.
The Diège and its tributary the Liège graze the municipality to the west and east.

The place is about 20 kilometers northwest of exit 23 of the A89 autoroute .
history
The name Bellechassagne comes from " Belle Chênaie " and means beautiful oak grove . In earlier times there was a Commanderie , a kind of monastery, the Knights Templar , which gave the place some importance. Only very few remains of this building complex have been preserved.
