Pierre Tornade

Pierre Tornade (born January 21, 1930 in Bort-les-Orgues , Corrèze department as Pierre Tournadre , † March 7, 2012 in Rambouillet , Yvelines department ) was a French actor and voice actor .

Life

Pierre Tornade began his theater career at the age of 25 in the play Elle est folle, Carole in Paris . In 1956 he played in the musical comedy Irma la Douce and then made his film debut in Les Truands , where he took his stage name "Tornade". The following year he starred in the play Pericles, Prince of Tire and joined Robert Dhéry's Branquignols troupe , which also included Jean Lefebvre and Michel Serrault .

He played frequently roles on television and appeared in several sitcoms such as Thierry la Fronde (1963) and Le Chevalier d'Harmental (1966). Because of his tall and imposing stature (1.88 m tall), he often appeared as a police officer or soldier. His most famous roles were the victim of the father in the film Dupont Lajoie (1975), Captain Dumont in the series Mais où est donc passée la septième compagnie? (1973) and Commissioner Florimond Faroux in the series Nestor Burma .

As a voice actor, he spoke the role of Majestix in the Asterix cartoons Asterix the Gaul (1967), Asterix and Cleopatra (1968) and Asterix Conquers Rome (1976). He later voiced Averell Dalton in the Lucky Luke cartoons Lucky Luke (1971), Lucky Luke - His Greatest Trick (1978), and Lucky Luke - The Great Adventure (1983). He also voiced Obelix in the Asterix cartoons Asterix - Victory over Caesar (1985), Asterix in the British (1986), Asterix - Operation Menhir (1989) and Asterix in America (1994).

Pierre Tornade died on March 7, 2012 in Rambouillet hospital after several days in a coma. He fell in the stairwell of his house.
