Rambouillet is a French commune in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France .
geography
Rambouillet is located 50 kilometers southwest of Paris in the middle of the Rambouillet forest, 142 m above sea level. The city has 26,736 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and covers an area of 3,519 hectares. It is located on the Drouette River . The municipality is part of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park .
Infrastructure
Rambouillet has a train station on the Paris – Brest railway line .

- The main attraction is the Rambouillet Castle (construction started in 1368). Here both Louis XVI. as well as Napoleon a secondary residence. Today the castle is often used for summit meetings and international conferences

- The Musée Rambolitrain is a model railway museum with model trains in various sizes.
