Ferdinand Werner (born June 11, 1950 in Worms ) is a German art historian , specialist author and publisher .

education

Ferdinand Werner comes from a Mainz printer family and has been studying art history and classical archeology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since the winter semester 1968/69 , later supplemented with Christian archeology . In 1971 he moved to Heidelberg University . There he was in 1975 with the work of de Aulnay Saintonge and Romanesque sculpture in western France at Hans Belting to Dr. phil. PhD .

activities

From 1976 to 1980 Werner worked for the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi , where he edited the volume "Schwaben II". At the same time he accepted a teaching position at the University of Tübingen .

In 1978, together with Claus Reisinger , he founded the Wernersche Verlagsgesellschaft , a specialist publisher that publishes non-fiction books , illustrated books and exhibition catalogs on architecture , art history and horticulture , as well as specialist magazines.

In 2015 Werner received his habilitation with his extensive work The Long Way to New Building at the Faculty of Architecture of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology , the Technical University in Karlsruhe , and has been a private lecturer there since then .
