Content
The magazine reports on topics from the fields of garden history, garden monument preservation and related disciplines. The concept of the garden is taken broadly, encompassing everything from the palace park to “public green”, such as city parks , botanical and zoological gardens or federal horticultural shows , civil gardens and front gardens . Individual pieces of equipment in gardens and parks are also in focus. The magazine should also make it possible for owners of garden monuments and employees in the authorities responsible for monument preservation to be able to obtain up-to-date information on these topics. The magazine is also intended to promote the dialogue between the preservation of garden monuments and nature conservation. The journal publishes articles in English and German . Around 12,000 pages had appeared by the end of 2017.
Worth knowing
The journal Die Gartenkunst corresponded to the Journal of Garden History in the English-speaking world , which ceased its publication in 1997. Today, garden art is the leading international magazine for this area in Europe.
In 2018 the magazine received the German Garden Book Prize and the first special prize for exceptional achievements in the field of garden books.
