Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is a French municipality with 7862 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rambouillet and the Canton of Maurepas . The inhabitants are called Saint-Rémois .
geography
Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is located in the valley of the Yvette , into which the small river Rhodon flows here. The municipality is part of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park .
Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is surrounded by the neighboring communities Magny-les-Hameaux and Châteaufort in the north, Villers-le-Bâcle in the northeast, Gif-sur-Yvette in the east, Gometz-la-Ville in the southeast, Les Molières in the south , Boullay-les-Troux in the south-west, Chevreuse in the west and Milon-la-Chapelle in the north-west.
The districts of Magny-les-Hameaux are: Rhodon, Beauséjour, Beauplan and Guiéterie.
Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is on the Via Turonensis of the Camino de Santiago .
history
The place was named after the bishop Remigius of Reims .
From the 17th century, Saint-Rémy was raised to rule. The Château de Coubertin was built in 1696. The station opened in 1867.
