Beynes is a French municipality with 7662 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rambouillet and the Canton of Plaisir . The inhabitants are called Beynois .
geography
Beynes is located on the banks of the Mauldre River about 25 kilometers west of Versailles . Beynes is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Montainville and Mariel-sur-Mauldre in the north, Crespières in the northeast, Thierval-Grignon and Saint-Germain-de-la-Grange in the east, Villiers-Saint-Frédéric in the southeast, Neauphle-le-Vieux in the South, Vicq in the southwest, Saulx-Marchais in the west and Marcq in the northwest.
history
Since the 8th century, the area belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The House of Montfort had ruled the village since 1181. In the 14th century Robert d'Estouteville built a castle complex. In 1536 King Henry II gave rule to Diana of Poitiers .
