Church building
Building history / building description
Nieder Neuendorf already had a church in the 13th century, probably a small chapel with a west tower, the Romanesque structures and remains of which could be discovered. It is the predecessor of the current church and is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the Mark Brandenburg .
The present church was as Saalbau 1490-1500 from baking and fieldstone built what dendrochronological investigations - have confirmed - performed on wooden beams.
In the 18th century the church underwent a fundamental renovation, with it being extended by five meters to the east. The nave , which is provided with a tent roof, was raised by one meter. The west tower is square and slightly indented. In its north and south side there is a pair of narrow round arched windows in ogival panels. The spire has transverse rectangular sound openings with lamellas on all four sides. The slate-covered spire is crowned by a ball , weather vane and a star. The faced entrance portal on the west side of the tower is ogival.
The church building, which underwent extensive exterior repairs in 2008, has a total of seven colored lead-glazed windows. A comprehensive interior renovation took place in the first half of 2016.
