Hans-Joachim Beeskow

Hans-Joachim Beeskow (born September 22, 1946 in Berlin ) is a German Protestant theologian and church and art historian .

Live and act

Hans-Joachim Beeskow grew up in Berlin and graduated from high school here in 1965. He then studied Protestant theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and graduated in 1970 with the First Theological Examination . From 1971 he worked at the Märkisches Museum Berlin, where he was deputy director from 1973 to 1982. In June 1982 he moved to the post of director of the Wittenberg Luther Hall (now the Luther House ), the largest museum of Reformation history in the world. He was in charge of the Luther House until 1987. Besides his doctorate he in 1985 with a thesis on church history at Berlin's Humboldt University for the Faculty of Theology Doctor of Theology . In 1986 he was accepted into the Association of Fine Artists of the GDR , Art History Section. From 1987 to the turn of 1989, he worked as a freelance science writer and art historian. After the fall of the Wall he stayed in the USA for lectures and lectures and after his return he became a lecturer in church history and source studies for Christian iconography at a Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, later a lecturer and religion teacher at the Evangelical School for Curative Education and Curative Education "Janusz Korczak" Samaritan institutions in Fürstenwalde / Spree as well as at the Protestant grammar school "Zum Grauen Kloster" in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. He lives in the Ore Mountains and has been retired since October 2009. Beeskow was and is a guest in many parishes to preach and give lectures.

Every year, Hans-Joachim Beeskow (with his texts and photos) publishes the original Berlin Thurneysser calendar in Leonhard Thurneysser Verlag, Berlin and Basel, on a wide variety of topics. Beeskow wrote numerous studies on the 16th and 17th centuries in newspapers, magazines and edited volumes (selection bibliography follows). He wrote many articles (on church and art history topics) for radio stations and held courses at adult education centers and at the Berlin Seniors University.
