The church district Wied is one of the 37 church districts in the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) based in Neuwied . It has 15 parishes . Its area is essentially the same as that of the Neuwied district .

The Reformation had already established itself in the county of Wied in the 16th century . When the area was divided between the Duchy of Nassau and the Kingdom of Prussia by the Congress of Vienna , the church districts ( synods at the time ) Neuwied and Dierdorf were formed in the Prussian part . In 1817 they were united in the Synod of Wied. Since 1973 the parishes of Engers, Bad Hönningen and Linz (previously Koblenz parish ) have also belonged to the Wied parish.

The parishes of Anhausen , Dierdorf , Engers , Feldkirchen - Altwied , Honnefeld , Linz - Bad Hönningen - Unkel - Rheinbreitbach , Friedenskirchengemeinde Neuwied (in the district Heddesdorf ), Marktkirchengemeinde Neuwied, Niederbieber , Oberbieber , Puderbach , Raubach , Rengbsdorf , Urbach and Waldbach belong to the church district .

The leadership of the church district lies with the district synod , which usually meets twice a year, with the district synodal board and with the superintendent . Pastor Detlef Kowalski acts as superintendent (as of January 2020).
