District Synodal Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kreissynodalvorstand is in the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland and the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , the governing body of a church district .

The district synod board is elected by the district synod from among its members and directs the church district on its behalf. It consists of the superintendent , the assessor (deputy of the superintendent), the Skriba (deputy of the assessor) and usually four, in exceptional cases six synodal elders. While theologians hold the first three offices, the synod elders are always non-theologians.

The superintendent chairs the district synodal board (as well as the district synod).

The term of office is eight years, with either the superintendent and the Skriba or the assessor and half of the synod elders being re-elected every four years.
