Puderbach is a municipality in the Neuwied district in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is the seat of the association of the same name . According to state planning, Puderbach is designated as a basic center.

geography

Puderbach lies between Neuwied and Altenkirchen on the edge of the Rhine-Westerwald nature park . The Holzbach flows through the municipality . In addition to the main town of Puderbach, the local community includes the districts of Haberscheid, Niederdreis (with the Niederdreisermühle residential area), Reichenstein and Richert (with the Strunkeich residential area).

history

The church and the parish of Puderbach were first mentioned in 1256. In the same year, court rights of the Walpoden von Reichenstein-Neuerburg on a mountain near Puderbach are attested. There they later built Reichenstein Castle . The court with the court linden was first mentioned in 1553.

From 1591 to 1806, Puderbach belonged to the Dierdorf district of the upper county of Wied . In 1816 the place came to the newly formed Prussian district Neuwied .

On June 7, 1969, the four previously independent communities Haberscheid, Niederdreis, Reichenstein and Richert were incorporated into Puderbach.
