The Burg Reichenstein is the ruin of a hillside castle on 225  m above sea level. NN above the Holzbach opposite the village of the same name Reichenstein a good 2 km northwest of Puderbach in the Neuwied district in Rhineland-Palatinate . history

The castle was in the years 1310-1320 by Ludwig III. von Reichenstein built to protect his territory and possibly also as a customs post. It had been in ruins since the 16th century and was destroyed in 1618 by the then owner, Count zu Wied , when the then Count von Sayn wanted to purchase it. Since then, the ruins have fallen into disrepair and were privately owned until the 20th century. For several years the ruin has been looked after by a development association and has been preserved in its current condition.

The castle complex can be visited at certain times, and there are also festivals and events in and around the castle. In addition to the foundation walls of the other castle buildings and a partially filled-in, formerly 40 meter deep well , the still towering ruins of a four-storey residential tower give the ruin its characteristic appearance.
