Location of the community of Straßenhaus in the district of Neuwied | ||
Straßenhaus is a municipality in the Neuwied district in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach . Straßenhaus is a state-approved tourist destination .
geography
The place is located in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park north of Rengsdorf .
The districts of Niederhonnefeld , Ellingen and Jahrsfeld and the residential area Jahrsfeldermühlen belong to the community of Straßenhaus .
history
At the beginning of the 17th century, a Reinhard family settled in the area of Honnefeld and Rengsdorf , who came from the Regelian rule. She built a house in the immediate vicinity of today's market square. In 1817, the street house - so called because originally there was a single house on Horhäuser Straße - was part of the village of Jahrsfeld. This house of Reinhard was alternately and sometimes simultaneously inn and customs station. The border between the County of Wied and the Electorate of Trier was located here until 1803 . The prerequisite for the development to today's street house was the beginning of tourism around 1900. In 1911 the Gasthof zur Post (later Hotel zur Post) opened for the spa business.
From 1832 to 1852 an optical-mechanical telegraph station was operated on the Jahrsfelder Hill . It was part of the Prussian telegraph connection from Berlin to Coblenz . A dispatch could be transmitted from station to station within a few hours using optical signals. A simple time signal was transmitted from Koblenz to Berlin after just a few minutes. In 1852 the system was replaced by an electromagnetic link. A stylized telegraph station is also part of the street house coat of arms.
The community of Straßenhaus was newly formed on August 1, 1966 from the communities of Jahrsfeld and Niederhonnefeld-Ellingen. Niederhonnefeld and Ellingen had already been united to form a political municipality in 1845 in connection with the introduction of the “Prussian Land Community Code for the Rhine Province”.
school
The first school beginnings of Straßenhaus point to Niederhonnefeld-Ellingen . The activities to build a school building were destroyed by inflation after the First World War. In 1929, the two municipal councils of Jahrsfeld and Niederhonnefeld-Ellingen, at the instigation of Neuwied District Administrator Großmann , approved the building of a school in Jahrsfeld for 78,000 RM . In 1931 the school started operating. As a result of the school reform (1973), the Hauptschule von Jahrsfeld was dissolved. The last teachers were Rimsa and Keßler in 1984 .

coat of arms
Blazon : “Slant left divided by green and gold; above a golden oak branch with two leaves and an acorn on the left; below a growing black, opto-mechanical telegraph with six wings on a low black tower with a handrail platform and extension on the right, each with an open window. "
The coat of arms has been legally valid since April 29, 1980 based on a design by Rudolf Rabs, Straßenhaus. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: The oak branch symbolizes the old oaks on the market square and the wooded area. The telegraph is reminiscent of station No. 57 of the opto-mechanical telegraph line Berlin-Koblenz, which existed here between 1832 and 1852 . |
