history

The Verbandsgemeinde was established on January 1, 1968 in the course of the Rhineland-Palatinate municipal reform from the territorial congruent and formerly independent offices of Puderbach and Niederwambach, which have existed since 1937 .

Until about 1940 the area had a purely agricultural character. Due to the small area of land, small property prevailed. With the settlement of industrial companies and changes in agriculture, a structural change began after 1945, which has not yet been fully completed.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of the Verbandsgemeinde Puderbach
Blazon : “Red bordered; split by a twisted silver tip, inside a green linden tree with a black trunk; in front four red diagonal bars in silver, covered with a blue peacock turned to the left; at the back in red diagonally right behind one another three silver diamonds. "

The coat of arms has been legally valid since January 12, 1959 and based on a design by Johannes Jacobi, Neuwied.

Justification of the coat of arms: The wied coat of arms with sloping bar and peacock refers to the earlier affiliation of the Verbandsgemeinde area to the upper county of Wied ; Puderbach was the seat of the Hohen Veste (here in the sense of regional court) in the northern part of the county. The three diamonds, coats of arms of the Walpoden von der Neuerburg (but black on silver), remind us that they built Reichenstein Castle in the parish of Puderbach before 1329 and then called themselves Lords of Reichenstein . The linden tree symbolizes the court linden tree of the Hohe Veste, attested to in its wisdom from 1553.

Local partnership

The Verbandsgemeinde Puderbach has maintained a municipal partnership with the French canton of Barenton in Normandy since 1970 .
