history
The territory of the Verbandsgemeinde and the local responsibilities of the local communities go back to earlier structures. The mayor's office in Linz, which existed until 1968 (from 1927 “Amt Linz”), comprised a largely congruent area, which, however, did not include the local community Vettelschoss and the area of the former community Lorscheid , which today belongs to Sankt Katharinen . The local community Vettelschoss was only assigned to the association community Linz am Rhein on November 7, 1970 by the "Eighth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate" of July 28, 1970.
Parish Linz
At the beginning of the 14th century, the residents of the Linz parish were ecclesiastically subject to the parish of St. Martin in the Archdiocese of Trier , with all the rights and duties , with regard to the high jurisdiction of the "Hohen Veste Altenwied ", which belonged to the Archbishopric of Cologne . In addition, they were dependent on the respective landlord and his court. After the town of Linz was elevated to the status of a city (between 1304 and 1332), the parish villages of Dattenberg, Hargarten , Hausen (meaning Linzhausen) , Kasbach (left of the brook) , Leubsdorf, Ockenfels and Ohlenberg that belonged to Linz became a new one, beyond the church The municipal legal and administrative structure that went beyond the scope of the “City and Parish of Linz” was included. The residents of the villages mentioned rose from official subjects to free citizens ("free citizens" or " stake citizens ") and had to contribute to all city burdens.
