La Plaine-sur-Mer ( Breton : Plaen-Raez ; Gallo : La Plaènn is a) French municipality with 4266 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and the canton of Pornic . The inhabitants are called Plainais (es) .
In addition to the core town, the municipality also includes Le Cormier , Port-Giraud and Le Marais .
geography
La Plaine-sur-Mer is located about 49 kilometers west-southwest of Nantes on the Atlantic Ocean (on the so-called Jade Coast ) in the Pays de Retz landscape . La Plaine-sur-Mer is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef in the north and north-east, Pornic in the east and Préfailles in the north-west.
