La Bernerie-en-Retz ( Breton : Kerverner-Raez ; Gallo : Bèrneriy ) is a commune with 2,968 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and is part of the canton of Pornic (until 2015: canton of Bourgneuf-en-Retz ). The inhabitants are called Berneriens .
geography
La Bernerie-en-Retz is located about 46 kilometers southwest of Nantes in the Pays de Retz landscape on the border with the Pays Nantais on the Atlantic coast . Here the wine is produced in the Gros Plant du Pays Nantais growing area . La Bernerie-en-Retz is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pornic in the north and east and Les Moutiers-en-Retz in the south and south-east.
