Les Moutiers-en-Retz ( Breton : Mousteròu-Raez ) is a French municipality with 1,640 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and is part of the canton of Pornic (until 2015: canton of Bourgneuf-en-Retz ). The inhabitants are called Monastériens .
geography
Les Moutiers-en-Retz is located about 37 kilometers southwest of Nantes in the Pays de Retz countryside on the Jade Coast . Here the wine is produced in the Gros Plant du Pays Nantais growing area . Les Moutiers-en-Retz is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pornic in the north and north-west, Bourgneuf-en-Retz in the east, Bouin in the south and La Bernerie-en-Retz in the west.
