Missillac ( Breton : Merzhelieg ) is a French municipality with 5342 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . Missillac belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and the canton of Pontchâteau (until 2015: canton of Saint-Gildas-des-Bois ). The inhabitants are called Missillacais .
geography
Missilac is halfway between Saint-Nazaire and Redon , 25 kilometers in both directions, in the Brière Regional Nature Park . Missilac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Dolay in the north, Théhillac and Sévérac in the northeast, Saint-Gildas-des-Bois in the east, Pontchâteau in the south and southeast, Sainte-Reine-de-Bretagne in the south, La Chapelle-de-Marais in the southwest, Hérbignac in the west and Nivillac in the northwest.
Route Nationale 165 runs through the municipality .
