La Turballe ( Breton At Turball ) is a French municipality with 4426 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . La Turballe belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and the canton of Guérande . The inhabitants are called Turballais (es) .

geography

La Turballe is located in the Brière Regional Nature Park ( French : Parc naturel régional de Brière ) on the Atlantic coast . La Turballe is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Piriac-sur-Mer in the north and north-west, Mesquer and Saint-Molf in the north-east, Guérande in the east and Croisic in the south.

history

Remains of the fortifications (Atlantic Wall) can still be seen from the time of the German occupation during the Second World War.
