history
The upper Moselle valley was already used for the passage from Metz to Basel in Roman times .
Until 1420, the villages of Bussang and Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle were united under the name Visentine , which continued as the name of the parish until 1767. In February 1856, sisters from the Saint-Esprit de Rouceux convent came to the village because of a cholera epidemic and founded a hospice for old people and orphans.
Economically, the development of the community was based one after the other on the exploitation of the somewhat modest lead, copper and silver deposits. More recently, the textile industry and the extraction of mineral water were added. Bussang is a hot spring bath , although some older springs had to be closed due to bacterial contamination. There has been a casino in town since 2006 .
The industrialist Benjamin Pottecher, who had specialized in the manufacture of envelopes in Bussang and was mayor of the town for some time, was one of the first in France to introduce the eight-hour day in his company.

Winter sports are offered in winter ( cross-country skiing and downhill skiing as well as tobogganing ), in summer activities such as paragliding , climbing on the via ferrata or bungee jumping . Bussang is located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .
