Location of Darnieulles in the Vosges department

The municipality of Darnieulles is located eight kilometers west of Épinal , the prefecture of the Vosges department.

The ground relief around Darnieulles is characterized by rolling hills. The streams Ruisseau des Roseaux, Ruisseau de Devant la Souche and Ruisseau des Rayeux flow in a fan shape into the Moselle tributary Avière , which marks the southeastern municipal boundary of Darnieulles.

The built-up areas of the communities Darnieulles and Uxegney now form a closed settlement area. The reason for this is the elongated housing estates between the two village centers, in which numerous commuters live who work in Épinal and the neighboring industrial communities.

Neighboring communities of Darnieulles are Fomerey in the north, Uxegney in the east, Sanchey and Chaumousey in the south, Gorhey and Hennecourt in the west and Bocquegney in the northwest.

history

Darnieulles was the capital of a barony as part of the Darney Bailiwick . The church of St. Mauritius belonged to the deanery Jorxey in the diocese of Saint-Dié . From 1790 to 1801 Darnieulles was part of the Girancourt parish . In 1801 there was still the spelling Durnieules .

Through the municipality of Darnieulles the motorway D 166 from Neufchâteau to Épinal . Épinal station, eight kilometers from Darnieulles, is on the Blainville-Damelevières-Lure railway line .
