Chantraine is a French commune with 3212 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement Épinal , the canton Épinal-1 and the municipal association Agglomération d'Épinal .
geography
The municipality of Chantraine borders the city of Épinal to the south-west and forms a closed settlement with Épinal and Golbey . In the southeast, the municipal area extends a few meters to the Moselle , the west and south of the municipal area consists of forest ( Forêt du Ban d'Uxegney ).
Neighboring communities of Chantraine are Golbey in the north, Épinal in the east and south, Renauvoid in the southwest and Les Forges in the west.
history
The parish was created in 1892 when Les Forges broke away . At that time Chantraine was a farming village. The foundation stone of the Catholic Church "Saint-Pierre-Fourier" was laid in 1898.
